Does your home qualify for a laneway home in Toronto? Here’s what you need to consider.
- Fire Access
- Spacial access between homes
- Limiting Distance Agreement will need to be signed
- 45m Rule
- 45m from back of the property to end of the laneway
- Then from 45m from there to fire hydrant
If you don’t meet those qualifications, consider:
- Sprinkler systems
- Signage up for fire personnel
The City of Toronto wants you to build a laneway home so they are trying to find ways to ease the requirements and it has been our experience that the City is willing to work with builders.
