Does your home qualify for a laneway home in Toronto? Here’s what you need to consider.

1. Fire Access
   1. Spacial access between homes
   2. Limiting Distance Agreement will need to be signed
2. 45m Rule
   1. 45m from back of the property to end of the laneway
   2. Then from 45m from there to fire hydrant

If you don’t meet those qualifications, consider:

1. Sprinkler systems
2. Signage up for fire personnel

The City of Toronto wants you to build a laneway home so they are trying to find ways to ease the requirements and it has been our experience that the City is willing to work with builders.
